I've been coming here for over 18 years and the optometrists are excellent. However I am slightly frustrated with a few of their new policies e.g They don't give you your prescription unless other optometrist sign it off.its my prescription, which I have paid for, give it to me! Secondly I was quite annoyed that they now make you have a separate contact lense fitting appt (which is an additional £25) when I already had an eye test 3 months ago, also I knew what my contact lense number was, but they refused to let me buy lenses without the appt, and my contact lense number ended up being exactly what i told them it would be.so just sounds like a way to make money!

Went to Neil Gordon Opticians for the first time today all staff was professional, polite and willing to help. The Optometrist Yunus Motara was great, professional, friendly and paying full attention to his patients at all times he was great at taking the eye test and making all necessary checks in order to help solve the problems I was having with my vision, I feel he went above and beyond to help me and ensure I was well looked after while at the opticians. I definitely left feel happy and confident with the outcome of the appointment. Thank you, hope to visit again for my next appointments. 10/10

I was seen my Elaine today and very pleased with great attention paid to every detail and length of time spent examining my eyes. Not only just looking at sight issues but also general health of the eyes.

Attended Neil Gordon for my eye test and consultation after having done my Lasik abroad. Ms Nivi (Nivetha) done my eye test and consultation. Wish I could rate their service any more than 5satrs. Very professional, detailed and satisfactory services. Despite little pricy than many other opticians, this place is worth every penny you spend here. 100% recommended.

I have been using this opticians for a odd 15 years. I do like the way they carry out eye tests, would reccommend to anyone. However, the front of house staff need to adopt a more subtle and friendly approach when meeting and greeting customers. They can seem a little bit rude. There are more positives then negatives i would say. I really like their designer frames which is the reason ive been coming back every year or so, but for me they are no longer a affordable option. Unfortunately, this year for a very long-long time, i am considering other alternatives when deciding to go new specs or have a eye test done. Well run family business situated in the heart of eastham i will give them the credit they deserve.

It was a nightmare. I was told I needed glasses and was forced to buy very expensive glasses that turned out to be reading glasses. I honestly just needed glasses for driving and I can't even use these for driving. So, I went back for a refund but they refused and ended up harassing me, not even giving back half of the money. They were yelling and refusing to admit it was their fault. It was as if them yelling was going to make what they did wrong right. Truly a RIP-off. Is there anyway I can receive a full refund?

I visited Neil Gordon’s for the first time today about an eye problem I was concerned about. I was seen by Mr Bryan and was immediately put at ease. My examination was very thorough and not rushed at all. Absolutely brilliant service and fantastic staff. I left feeling so much better and confident with what I was told the problem was. I will definitely be swapping from my usual impersonal highstreet optician and going here in future. I’ve already been recommending to family and friends. Thanks for the fantastic service.

It was all perfect until.

I decided to go to Neil Gordon opticians in March of this year. I have been using specsavers until now.

I went to the East Ham shop and took the eye test. The person (a male worker) that took the eye test was very good and thorough with the examinations. Perfect service.

Before I actually took the test I explained to the receptionist that I wish to use my own glasses (new glasses which I purchased from another shop) and I just wanted them to fit lenses. She called one of the colleagues to show the glasses so they can check the suitability that lenses can be fixed. After all was confirmed as OK, I was told there is fee to be paid for the work (fixing the lenses to my glasses) which was ok.

We looked at the various lenses they provide and choose the options I liked. The total price came to about £200 something- my own glasses, work, and lenses with various options.
It was all good and I was happy to proceed until.
The staff then told me that I have to sign a kind of indemnity form in case the person fitting the lenses to my glasses accidentally broke the glasses.

The shop suggestion was to purchase new frames from them (another £200 at least- bearing in mind my frames were designer frsmed at cost of £400 but bought at sale price).
Naturally I was not happy and told them if other opticians can fix lenses why can’t they?

They obviously didn’t want to take responsibility.

I told them that I do not wish to proceed with the purchase as it stands and will make my glasses elsewhere, especially as they already looked at the frames and confirmed it can be done.

After the worker became irritated, I decided to pay for the eye test, for which they refused to give me copy of the eye test and go.

So there we go, that was my experience with Neil Gordon optitians. £25 for the eye test / no copy of the eye test specification.

They may be (very) good at doing the eye test, but unless you are ready to leave £400+ behind then the service and mood changes.

First impression means a lot.

Thank you
