Kind staff, good selection of frames. Easy to book an appointment. Quick service. Would recommend. Only issue was slightly complicated to establish the right offer for what you need. I only needed one pair of glasses so the spare pair free wasn't necessary. Not sure if I got much of an offer.

I have had worst experience with them, according to them you can't cancel and rebook your appointments, and if you do you will have to pay first. And on appointment date they just call you and says optician got sick we won't be able to see you. Unexpected and unprofessional behaviour. Being smart.

I wasn't going to write a review, but seeing as the manager has called me twice this morning about a missed appointment yesterday! I arrived for my 13: 40 appointment about 2 minutes late, there were 3 families in front of me one of whom also said she had an appointment. There was no one seeing to the queue until I had been there for about 10 minutes. I heard the lady say there would be an hour wait, I have no idea whether she had an appointment or not, but no one bothered asking if anyone had an appointment and by this time my appointment was half way through. He then called me back to say that he had checked the CCTV and there was no queue at all! So he basically just called me back to call me a liar. Unbelievable and after looking at some of your reviews they clearly speak for themselves. This is the first and last time I book with Specsavers!

I went there 2 yrs ago and went back as its convenient (Barkingside branch). I was due for a regular eye test check up. I paid for an OCT scan that checks every detail of your eye. This is up to 4 years in the future. It cost £10 to get it done. The optician was very nice. I needed an updated pair of varifocal glasses. I was helped by Abi she allowed me to browse and helped me when I asked her any questions. The only thing with specsavers is that it seems rather expensive to me. I ended up spending £283 for 2 pairs of glasses. I personally think that's a lot as the glasses seem very flimsy to me, and I'll probably break them at some point. I'm due to go back this Sunday to pick them up. I just so happened to be there yesterday (Friday) so I popped in to see if they were there. The woman at the door said Hello do u have an appointment? I explained no I didn't and why I was just checking.she went onto explain to me how the system worked regarding appointments.this aggravated me some what. I explained I was in the area (only 2 days earlier than the Sunday) They may have been there and ready to collect. I told her don't worry about it I'll wait till Sunday.at that point she said Hold on I'll check. I watched her she went to a drawer maker by the alphabet.very quickly glanced and said No there not here. I said OK I'll come in on Sunday.slight disappointment but I'll see Abi who helped me previously. A really nice young lady and very helpful.

My son is overdue with his routine appointment since 3 months. I have called a number of times but they never accommodate to give any appointment to suit a student who is 15 years old and the one who is committed to his studies. Rather I am given random suggestions like to take days off from school or contact NHS. When asked for weekends, again same un-cooperative attitude. Would really expect some sensitivity at times!

Hi, I cannot write multiple reviews I am including both in this post and have been very happy with Specsavers Barkingside.
2022 Review:
I am very impressed with the staff and service for both my glasses and contact lens appointments. They were polite and very proffessional during tests, clearly knowing what they were doing and I felt as though I was getting accurate testing and eye health checks. In addition they helped me to select the best options for my glasses and gave me plenty of time to select a pair I wanted. I unfortunately cannot remember all the names of the staff who helped me but massive thank you to Israt, Masuma and Dhanu for taking care of me!
2020 Review:
Here is a review from 2020 (Previous Appointment)

I have been a customer for many years. My parents and family all use the opticians now.
However, I was not impressed with how I was spoken to when I asked about my spectacle repair yesterday.
The store are meant to phone me today.
It is not the level of service I had come to be expect. Very disappointed.

Staff isn’t friendly or welcoming. Been told one thing and was then asked to come in after all. Would have expected the same knowledge amongst all staff which doesn’t seem to be the case. No apologies for the miscommunication either…. We are all busy people, please communicate clearly

Came here to get my eyes tested because of recent changes. Everybody at Specsavers Barkingside was super helpful; from the optician to the store front staff. Thatsha was super lovely, knowledgable and patient when helping my father with a query about his glasses. She, alongside another male colleague, helped me find the perfect pair of reading glasses. Thank you again, overall 5* experience!

Seani and Israt were so friendly and knowledgeable and guided me and my wife in choosing the best frames and lenses for our prescription sunglasses. My wife also had her eye tested by a friendly optician Anita. There was no pressure or annoyance at all by the professional team. Thank you for such a wonderful service. It was well worth visiting this branch. We will certainly return and recommend you to our friends.

Great costumer service, professionalism and helpful people. The best Specsavers ever. My mom was helped and guided by Seani and Oana through her journey to check her eyes and choose the spectacles most suitable for her. My mom regained her confidence and found two wonderful and professional people to whom I deeply thank.

I had a great experience with professional assistants.
Dhany assisted me in choosing a different type of spectacles
for the first time.
I changed from Single to Varifocal lenses, and I am not quite sure
if I made the right choice.
They really do take a lot of adjustments to my normal viewing, but,
I am getting there eventually.
The advantage when I am driving, and having long clear vision around me and also reading close-up dials on my dashboard.
My only gripe, the midrange vision blurs my vision, until I adjust my line
of sight via head movements.
Slightly daunting when driving, also, I still have difficulty in changing between my computer keyboard and the screen.
I have to exaggerate my head movement, and I have not found a comfortable format at this stage.
I believe that I made the right choice, and it's just a case of working at it
until it becomes natural.
I would recommend all the assistants at the Barkingside Branch but, be
careful in choosing the type of vision you require from your spectacles.

Very good experience with two members of staff Seani and Lacie. Very welcoming and professional knew exactly what I wanted with my frames and were very helpful and gave their honest opinion with how the frames looked. Most of all they were very patient with me whilst deciding which frame I wanted and very efficient.

I just need to leave a comment for Rupy Kaur @ Specs Savers Barkingside. She was approachable, delightful, and so accommodating. She had good interpersonal skills and her communication skill was incredible. Thank you Rupy Kaur for your excellent customer service and I would like to wish you all the best. Sayyad Janhangeer.

I visited the Barkingside branch and found the service received to be excellent. The first time I was seen by Mandeep Basi who was polite professional and very patient. She did my referral for cataract surgery. The second time I was seen by Amrit Basra. Again she was excellent and dealt with me in a caring and helpful manner. The customer service between the Ilford specsavers and Barkingside branch is so very different. I was referred by Mandeep for cataract surgery. After my first eye was done I attended the Ilford branch for post operation appointment (the Barkingside branch wasn’t on the evolutio list). I was seen by Mohammed at Ilford and the check was carried out successfully. However he didn’t arrange the follow up for my next eye surgery with Spamedica despite assuring me that he had done so. I waited for an appointment from Spamedica and was told that the opticians had said no further action and hence I had been discharged from the clinic. On contacting the Ilford specsavers to ask what had gone wrong, I wasn’t listened to by the admin staff who answered the phone. She was dismissive, talked over me and when I asked to speak to Mohammed, I was told it wasn’t his job to talk to patients. I then gave up and called the Barkingside branch who had done my initial referral. What a contrast in service, staff were pleasant and very caring and booked me in the very next day for a new referral. I saw Amrit who was brilliant. The place was spotless and full attention given to social distancing and cleanliness. I think the Ilford branch needs to learn from Barkingside what amounts to good customer service

Like clockwork. Thanks for the service!
With another busy working day with limited free time, I booked an afternoon slot for an eye test. As soon as I entered, I was seen by Rupy who took me through the process and completed the pre-tests. This immediately followed by the eye test by Hinal. The service was professional and efficient, which enabled me to get back to my work ahead of time. Masks and social distancing was mandatory within the environment, which put minds at ease. Thank you both!

The customer service was absolutely brilliant. Felt safe, all staff wearing face masks and hand sanitiser at the front of the store. The optometrist Tanani was fantastic and really listened well. I forgot to ask the name of the young woman who helped me pick my frames, she was a great help. Thank you and will now come to this branch instead of the Ilford one. Highly recommend others!

I accept everyone is dealing with covid differently and there is no right way. Specsavers have decided that all visitors must wear a mask, which again is fine and I am happy to comply. They should have informed us of this when i called to book an appointment rather than telling me when I arrive for my appointment forcing me to purchase a mask from them at the door. Just didn't like the approach.
Otherwise a decent and friendly service.

The service provided was amazing, but I still found it weird that I wasn't asked for ID when going for my eye test.
That wasn't too much of issue until I came to pick up my glasses the following week since I was simply asked what my surname was and given my glasses without a clear confirmation check on who I was for glasses I spent more than £100 on.
